Sa nouvelle bande-annonce tout juste sortie, il est l’heure pour moi de me préparer à me replonger dans cette série que j’ai adorée. On en était où de The End of the F***ing World ? Dans la saison 1, je découvrais James, un jeune adolescent britannique persuadé qu’il est psychopathe. Mais sa rencontre avec Alyssa lui a non seulement prouvé qu’il n’était pas un serial killer en devenir, mais qu’il lui est aussi possible d’éprouver des sentiments amoureux. J’ai suivi ce couple dans toutes ses mésaventures à la Bonnie and Clyde, de leur école buissonnière à leur fugue criminelle. J’ai été séduite par l’humour pince-sans-rire que j’aime retrouver dans les séries britanniques, et j’ai adoré l’esthétique travaillée et bien particulière des images. Le pitch m’avait interpellée, et le scénario m’a happée, car je trouvais que cette histoire sortait de l’ordinaire et avait trouvé un ton bien à elle, à mi-chemin entre la série teen et le road movie dramatique. Mais la saison 1 m’a laissée en plan sur cette plage, avec un James qui court à corps perdu vers une évasion impossible. Les coups de feu résonnent, Alyssa crie, et puis plus rien. La saison 2 va devoir répondre à beaucoup de mes questions ! Tout ce que j’espère, c’est que cette saison m’amène de nouveaux rebondissements tous plus zinzins les uns que les autres, des bisous tendres et maladroits, et une utilisation abusive du mot fuck. Chaque plan est travaillé, les personnages ouvrent souvent des yeux hallucinés, et l’intrigue augmente en folie à chaque épisode. Un bonheur, duquel il est difficile de redescendre. James, 17 ans, est certain d’être un psychopathe, du genre qui plonge sa main dans une friteuse pour ressentir quelque chose à l’âge de 9 ans. Il n’aime pas l’école mais ce n’est pas grave, c’est un bon lieu d’observation pour son projet tuer quelqu’un, en toute simplicité. Au lycée il rencontre Alyssa, une fille qu’il trouve très intéressante… à tuer justement ! Seulement voilà, elle commence à lui faire ressentir des choses sans même avoir besoin de plonger sa main dans l’huile bouillante… Les deux jeunes gens finissent par partir ensemble à l’aventure. Une aventure semée d’embuches, de déconvenues et de rencontres parfois malencontreuses. Bref, The End of the F***ing World prenait l’adolescence par un bout habituellement peu exploré. J’en étais si fan, que je lui consacrai un second binge-watching, ce que je ne fais quasiment jamais. The End of the F***ing World aura une saison 2 Je ne m’y attendais pas, mais alors pas du tout. D’ailleurs, je trouvais que la toute fin de la saison 1 n’appelait pas de suite. Autant dire que je suis plutôt curieuse de voir où les scénaristes vont nous emmener avec cette saison 2. Normalement, je ne suis pas friande du fait de tirer sur la corde » et de prolonger des séries qui à l’origine ne devaient contenir que quelques épisodes et qui ont été pensées pour être courtes. Je trouve que ça brise la dynamique instaurée par l’intention. Mais bon, je préfère ne pas faire ma vieille conne avant d’avoir vu le produit fini, donc espérons que cette saison soit à la hauteur de nos attentes et surtout à la hauteur de la saison 1. First up, season three needs that all-important green as much as we're hopeful for a third season, it looks like there really is basically no chance. Covell's attitude to the story's season two conclusion seems pretty conclusive. "I think, for me, that's it now," Covell said in 2019 via RadioTimes. Yeah, that's done. I think to try and eke more out would be wrong, I like where we've left it.""Put it this way, if for some reason we hadn't been allowed to do season two, I would have been really gutted. Which I think shows that it was the right thing to do – for me, anyway. And I think I like where we end it [in season two], and yeah, it feels right for the story."Okay, yeah, that sounds fairly final, but there is still some slim hope. "But you never know, and you obviously you can't write for what people want," she added.
